Will Cuppy ( 1884-1949 ) is a neglected satirist I first discovered in a used bookstore of my youth. With inspired titles like HOW TO BECOME EXTINCT, HOW TO TELL YOUR FRIENDS FROM THE APES, AND THE DECLINE AND FALL OF PRACTICALLY EVERYBODY, he had me hooked before I opened a book. Providentially, I was later able to write the first Cuppy biography. Happily, it contributed to a Cuppy movement to have a historic marker placed at his Auburn, Indiana birthplace, just near the local library. I was invited to give a Cuppy talk at said library the week before the September 21, 2019 event. I was also honored to be a special guest at this celebration. Writing the Cuppy biography fits my ongoing goal to help write/right lost causes.
